Are Aliens Among Us? (Amel vs Leo)
September 13, 2024Are Aliens Among Us?
Amel Chopra (INTP) vs Leo Maverick (ISTP)
Amel: I definitely think that there are
aliens out there. I mean, think about it; the universe is so huge and filled
with countless planets, galaxies, and stars. It would be ridiculous to assume
that we're the only life-form in existence! There are probably billions of
other life-forms out there that we haven't discovered yet. If anything, maybe
we're the aliens! So yeah, I think we can both agree... aliens exist!
Leo: Yeah, I guess that makes sense.
We can't be the only life-form in the entire universe. But that doesn't
actually mean that aliens are among us on Earth, right? Wait... what do you
mean by your last sentence? I'm no alien, if that's what you're implying.
Amel: Oh, right. That last sentence?
I'm just fooling around! I mean, maybe I am? Who knows? But you're right. Just
because there may be aliens out there doesn't necessarily mean that they're
here on Earth... or are they?
Leo: You're really doubling down on
this whole aliens among us thing. Did you see something? Know something we
don't? Cause if you do, you might just have to spill the beans...
Amel: No, no. I don't have anything
to tell. It's just a wild, unfounded guess of mine! You know, based on all the
recent reports of UFO encounters and such. I'm not saying that there are aliens
among us, but it is possible, no?
Leo: Yeah, I guess it's always
possible. But you seem to be a little more than just a bit curious on this
topic, are you sure there's not something you're not telling me?
Amel: Oh shoot, right! We’re on
debate now! Right, right. So, I believe that there ARE aliens among us.
Leo: And I believe that there AREN'T
aliens among us. I mean, it's so ridiculous to think that a bunch of
extraterrestrials are just walking around and living among us, right?
Amel: Hmm... I see your point, but
why would it be so difficult to believe? The universe is vast and complex,
there are so many planets out there with different conditions and environments,
right? I think it's totally possible that some of these planets have the exact
right conditions that could sustain life and maybe they're also home to other
intelligent creatures just like us. It's not as unthinkable as you think.
Leo: Alright, I concede that it
might be possible for such beings to exist. But, there's still the matter of
travel. It's unlikely that these creatures can somehow travel such vast amounts
of distance to get to Earth. It's just not possible, right?
Amel: It may not be possible for us
to travel across such vast distances... but who says that the same limitations
apply to aliens? They might have some special mode of transportation that
allows them to make it from one end of the galaxy to another. Or maybe their
lifespan is so much longer than ours that they can spend decades traveling
through space.
Leo: You make some valid points but
there's just one problem. If these extraterrestrials do in fact have access to
these special forms of transportation or super-long lifespans, where is the
PROOF? Where is the evidence of such creatures? I feel like if they really were
visiting us, there'd be more evidence.
Amel: Ah, the age-old question.
Where's the evidence? What, you think that there would be concrete evidence of
extraterrestrial life if they were among us? The entire point of their
existence is to stay hidden and go unnoticed. They wouldn't want to expose
themselves to humanity now, would they? It would wreak havoc on the planet and
all the religious people would go crazy.
Leo: You make it sound like it'd be
some huge disaster if they did reveal themselves. So, it's all a cover-up then?
You think they're hiding amongst us from humanity, and we're just too dumb to
notice them? That's a pretty bold statement, don't you think?
Amel: I mean, when you think about
it... it's not completely inconceivable, right? It would be the biggest
disaster that's ever happened to humanity, after all! If aliens were real and
revealed themselves to us now, it would shake entire belief systems and governments
and cultures. It could be a total mayhem! And they would not want that to
happen, I can assure you.
Leo: Yeah, that might seem feasible.
But what would these aliens, who are apparently super smart and highly advanced
in technology, what would they gain from staying here on this boring planet? Don't
you think they'd just want to continue to travel and explore the rest of the
universe? What would be the point of staying here?
Amel: Well... Maybe they've already
explored the rest of the universe and have decided that Earth is the most
fascinating planet out there! Think about it, there's so much diversity and
life here. Even the environment is always changing. The seasons change, the
terrain changes, the plants change. It's always something new and exciting
here. So maybe they're here to study us, the wildlife here, the environment.
Moderator: You guys, this debate
surprisingly more civilize than any other debate i have ever witnessed
Leo: You're right, normally there'd
be a bunch of name-calling, insults, and other such antics. But this has been
pretty civil so far. It certainly is
nice to have a friendly debate with someone every once in a while, without any
arguments or toxicity.
Amel: Yeah, you're right, it is nice! Just
two chill folk having a friendly debate. No negativity. Pretty cool. And plus,
it's a fun topic for a debate as well. It's a nice change of pace from all the
serious and toxic debates these days. So I guess we're calling this a draw?
Leo: Yeah, that seems fair, I think.
We put up some solid arguments, but I do agree that it basically boiled down to
the "maybe vs no" situation, with no real way of knowing the actual
verdict. So we're calling it a tie, right?
Amel: Sounds good to me! We did put up some pretty solid points, I gotta give you that. But yeah, there really is no clear-cut answer here. So a tie it is!
